New Resolution

Assalamualaikum! How are you? According to the Islamic Calender, it's NEW YEAR! Awal Muharam ^____^. I have a LOT to say but I'll try shortening it up for your sake haha. First, I got an extra day off oh yeah because of awal muharam. So I got 2 days off, Friday and Saturday. Nice. On Friday, the Egyptians had this, you've guessed it, demonstration. Again, we can see them marching from our house. LIVE baby! You can watch the video here

On Saturday, which is today, my housemates and I made Roti Jala and chicken curry all evening. Double Nice. Delicioso! We've had camel curry before, but chicken curry's still nice! We had to cook at our friends' house a.k.a our neighbour because we're out of gas! Akhirnya, tong gas berupa seperti dah tenggelam dekat dasar laut for 100 years tu dah habis gas. Getting a new one, that's a whole new chapter. *sigh*  Oh yeah, did I mention that I have class during the election which is on the 28th. AND class is still going on the 29th, which is my birthday. Oh yeah, I'm so BOSS that I go to class during the election. Is it going to be dangerous? We'll see I guess. I hope Egypt's going to settle down soon. I feel so bad for those poor Egyptians, because seeing my friends sad is NOT a good feeling. They look so down sometimes. That's all for today. Ciao!

Genius.

Demonstrations and Lectures

(Nerd snort)Assalamualaikum! HI! How are you?  Ehehehe. How's the situation here?? Well, it's pretty stable bhahaha just kidding. I mean it. 0____0 People are dying everyday and I'm praying and hoping that nothing will happen to the area near my house. SERIOUSLY! So far, they only passed my area. Oh yeah, we have a curfew now, pretty neat. We're supposed to be home before 3pm. Because the demonstration'll get pretty heated by that time. And we can go out again at 6am the next day. I heard again from my friend that another person died yesterday. The great thing was, my lecture finished at 4pm. By the time it ended, the Mwassa was left deserted. Just the people in my group. It was awesome hehe. I know this thing is serious but I just can't help that jakun feeling. Please, excuse me. So we were told to go back either by using a musyrif (ok, cancel that option haha), taxi or by walking in BIG groups (10 people or more). And of course I took the 2nd option bhahahaha. What else? Hah! Setiap hari asyik dengar bunyi ambulance and siren polis. AND we've stocked up our food supply! Oh yeah baby!! On the 27th (the day before the election) we were told not to go out after zohor but the truth is, we're not allowed to go out AT ALL that day. Why? Because the rate of getting killed is pretty HIGH. YES. I will stay inside the house until everything's settled thank you. Plus, it's getting colder. Yes, saya memahami perasaan kucing sphinx dan tikus basah selepas mandi. SEJUK!!!! Ciao! Have a nice day~

shiver shiver

Assalamualaikum! How are you? I'm supeeeer cold. A lot's happening over here! The wind's howling, people are getting anxious, and I'm keeping my guard up. Yup, something big is brewing. Even though I didn't witness it myself, the demonstration really did happened. PLUS, it happened near my house. Haha macam mana boleh tak sedar? =___= So, back from class today, from Fathala (super market), super tired. Whew! Umi and I went to Fathala after class and from my observation, people are stocking up FOOD. They are buying trolleys of food. I mean, there's this one Arab who bought like TEN FROZEN CHICKENS! The food vendors are selling food like hot cakes.Wait, bukan hot cakes tu makanan ke? Hehe Some of them are even almost out of stock. That's new. Ah yes, shops are closing, probably due to this. Conclusion, I'm hungry bhahaha 0____0 Sedar tak sedar, kami pun stock la sekali. Ahh, enough about food, let's talk about the demonstration! At Mwassa, Professors and Doctors are talking about it, during our practical class. It's a HOT topic right now. Pfft, of course it is. Of course, among themselves. While we're busy playing doing experiments, they gathered in front of the door. They were talking in Arabic so I couldn't understand fully but yeah I HEARD the name of places, most probably the ones that are affected. Plus, before the lecture started, the assistants gathered in front of the computer and searched the News. Yes, news about the demonstration. Of course we saw what they're doing, there's a freaking projector! One other latest news, Fatihah told me that someone died in El-Shatby. He was killed. 0___0 (double shiver) El-Shatby's like a few stations away from my place. Pray for our safety :)

(picture taken while having my lunch haha jakun)
SNOW! Haha yeah right. It sure is cold here but there's no snow. That's salt. Yes, I touched it, salt dissolves LIKE A BOSS. I mean, Alex is near the sea anyway.

PROTEIN EXPERIMENTS. Cool, I even burned myself haha. Jangan tiru aksi ini. But one thing, peptone WHY YOU SMELL SO BAD! Ada lalat hinggap pulak tu. Bau macam air liur basi yang dah basi.
(View from the lab)

Train tracks. Awesome. The yellow/ orange thing back there is the train. So, here's where the train sounds are coming from during lecture. O___O

That's all, ciao! Have a nice day :D

Of old songs and amino acids

Assalamualaikum! How are you? I'm having a wild time (nerd snort) memorizing everything about the 20 amino acids. Our theme was old songs. So, anything from Westlife to George Michael are included. Fatihah and I SURE know how to party, hehe. I'd like to dedicate these songs to my family and friends. Have a nice day! Ciao!

I also recommend listening to Sung Si Kyung's covers of these songs. Yes, Sung Si Kyung and Park Hyo Shin are my favourite singers <3

TRAPPED

Assalamualaikum everyone! How are you? Today, I am officially trapped inside the house. Say goodbye to SEAFOOD! *sigh* But yeah, for my safety and the others, we're not supposed to go out. Not with the coming election they're having. From what I heard, they're going to have a HUGE demonstration at Tahrir Square, Cairo, Alexandria(0____0)!, Mansoura and Suez today. Pray for our safety! How's the situation here? It's heating up. Last night, my housemates and I went to Tafaqquh class and on the way back, you can see/hear people advertising about the election I suppose (sorry, I don't understand arabic fully yet eheh). At first, we wanted to go home without using a musyrif hehe malas nak tunggu. But yeah that didn't happen. 1) Being the scaredy cats we are 2) Remembered Mama's wise words - yeah she warned us. So, I guess I have better things to do. MODULE 2 AND 3 ARE STARING AT ME RIGHT NOW. Ciao people! Have a nice day!

The opposite

Assalamualaikum, hey people! How are you? Nice weather we're having! RAIN AND MORE RAIN! Ohh, how it reminds me of Malaysia. It's been raining all day, even at this very moment. The temperature has surely dropped, oh yeah! teringat tadi on the way to class,  jakun keluar wap dari mulut bila cakap, HAHA ok I'll stop . Anyway, what happened today? I was late for lecture for the first time, uggh. NOT COOL! The taxis won't stop for us and refused to send us to Mwassa. Tensi, tensi. (tension yg telah dimelayukan) So, we had to walk ALL the way to Mwassa (x de la jauh sangat, maybe a 30 minute walk, menggedik je tak nak jalan), knowing that we're going to be late and all. Nevertheless, I had a good walk, I mean, exercise...IN THE MORNING! Doctors should be healthy right HAHA. Oh, did I mentioned that it was raining? Alhamdullilah, we managed to get to the lecture hall, even though we were a little late. But oh alas, while the doctor was explaining some stuff to us, BLACK OUT! For both lectures, the doctors jumped and gave out a little yelp, which of course all of us heard. The thing is, the black out happened several times. We couldn't use the projector so...problem la. But the lecture was still going, being late, my seat was at the back and well, let's say I just had to make do with everything. I leaned forward on my table, (mind you there was a wall that blocked almost half of the board from my view)to see what the doctor was writing on the board and to hear her voice. A little slumpy morning but oh well! I'm still okay heee :) Ciao! Have a nice day :)

Rain and Winter

Assalamualaikum people!! I know, I know I promised you guys a long picture post. I lied. Haha, no, I'll make sure to post them some other time because the pics took ages to upload with my current internet connection. So, what's up?  I spent a looong day at Mwassa (University building) today. Classes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phew, glad I survived haha << gedik. Umm, what else? IT RAINED IN ALEX!! After my 8am class, my friends and I sat on the bench at the cafeteria/garden and decided to read some awesome biochem while waiting for the next lecture. Oh yes, it rained. At first, my friends were not convinced when I told them that it's raining since I saw drops of water on my book, and for a second, I wasn't convinced myself ingatkan air liur menitik atas buku biochem sebab seronok sangat baca buku tu. But NO! Genuine rain! Of course, semua orang jakun hujan. People started to rush inside the building and were enjoying the rain. In Egypt, when it rains, seasons change which means now, winter has come. So, I welcome thee WINTER!!! Have a nice day~ Ciao! less than 3 (<3)

Eid Adha = Raya Haji

Assalamualaikum and good day! Selamat Hari Raya Haji Aidil Adha!!! :) So today my housemates and I spent our morning of Raya Haji at Kak Ain's house. Oh, delicious food yum yum!! Camel's meat I think. DELISH!! But we sort of went there late due to ughh...some serious circumstances bangun lambat. On our way to her open house, you can see people slaughter lambs, sheeps, goats, cows etc. everywhere. (Ok, there's a lot, not everywhere but a lot) The best thing was, they slaughtered a sheep in the building of our apartment at the front door of the lobby (Ingat lobby Hotel ke apa hehe) You can smell the blood all the way from upstairs. It was indeed an awesome experience. When we slid out of the door, we saw people praying on the road. So cool! No wonder they were cleaning the roads in front of our apartment building. I mean, usually it's dirty and nobody cares whether it's dirty or not. After our visit, we decided to pay the ocean a little visit, and so we did. Bought some chocolates and we're ready to go!!! Here's some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy and have a nice day!

Trust me when I say, there's like a bazillion of cats here. Oh and they're all sooo cute and exotic Mraowr!

Okay, so this cat's not the prettiest or the cutest one out there but I've taken a great liking to it. He looks so gangsta!! And I can always find him lazing at the very same spot every time. So cool like a BOSS!

No people, it's not dead. Most of the cats here like to laze around all day (isn't that what all cats do?)

-END OF INTERROGATION-

Hey Alex!

Hello people. How are you? I'm still in one piece alhamdulillah :)

Most of my friends and families from Malaysia had been asking me, "So, how's Egypt?" Eheh, my answer? Malaysia's better but hey! Maybe that's just because I'm a Malaysian. Not trying to become a racist or anything but Malaysia's awesome btw haha (baru sedar ke?? <___<) Hehe <3 *sigh* That's besides the point. What I'm trying to tell you guys in this post are the things I HATE about Alexandria. No, I'm not a pessimist but I'd like to start off with the bad things first and maybe in another post, I'll share with you the things I ABSOLUTELY ADORE about this amazing place <3. Mind you, I love Alex!!!

Shall we start?

1. THE PEOPLE:

a)They're nice people but hey they're EXTREME. They fight all the time, it's fun to watch but not when you're in a hurry. Like today, I went out shopping for groceries with my friends and they fought in the middle FREAKING road. Please, save the drama and fight at the side of the road. Ok, maybe that's a stupid request. DON'T FIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE!! I don't even know why they're fighting but I believe that it's over something so small and stupid. Uggh...Their fights are no joke.

b) Patient people? N-O. Well, most of them. They drive like crazeeeeh here. Bet they'll fail their JPJ test right away if they come to Malaysia. The cars keep honking 24/7. That's one, I find them funny at some point. They're not patient people my dear friends, I repeat NOT. They like to start conversations but when your only answer is "mush fahma!" (I don't understand-I think that's how they say it, if it's wrong, well at least they get the point) they get pretty annoyed, pretty quickly. I mean, COME ON! I CAN'T SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE yet. sheesh. Plus, they talk a lot with really high volume and verryyy tachy (rapid - med term hehe << menggedik)

c) Liars? Also, it depends. You can find liars all over the world but hey I'm going to share about the big fat liars over here. Con-men are commen. They like to lie about the price of things. It's a bonus for them if you're a tourist. AND if you're an innocent 1st year Malaysian student, that's all the better. I'm going to share a tip, if you find a taxi with red dice (snake eyes) and tinted windows, don't get in. He likes to charge extra and always targets Malaysian students. If you don't pay, he'll follow you UNTIL you pay. Creepy eh? That's what I heard from my seniors and luckily, I actually encountered that very taxi on my way to class. Heh, got a pretty good look at it. Creepy taxi looks creepy! Oh yeah, did I tell you about the time I got lied to by another taxi. Oh yes, I'm very much aware that the taxi driver was being weird, he freaking charged us 15 LE when the fare was only supposed to be 5-7 LE. Stupid taxi man. My friends and I paid the fare being the scaredy-cats we are, I mean, HE'S HUGE and Malay girls can't stand to that, we're so small! And so we paid, swearing in Malay depan-depan the guy while forcing a smile. The driver refused to let us go until we pay the fare. He was about to abandon us in the middle of the road. Mind you, he freaking locked the doors! AND so friends, please bargain first before entering a taxi. We did, but he lied and I guess it wasn't just our day. (sigh)

d) GATAL? Y-E-S. Apparently, they like Malaysian girls. It's a dream-come-true to marry an asian. Nuff said.

2) THE NIGHT LIFE:

I WISH! Well, it's not like I like going out at night. I DON'T. Only with my family. It is extremely dangerous to go out at night if you're a girl. For Malaysian students, there's a system called the Musyrif system which is basically where a guy is assigned to accompany you to your destination. Pretty cool but hey sometimes you just hate it. I mean the whole process of calling someone you totally don't know and the whole awkwardness bugs me. Plus, say you have to go buy something, like milk for instance or chocolates <3, how in the world should you tell them? "Hey, can you please accompany me to XXX store. I'd like to buy some chocolates and milk." If I was the musyrif, I'd be pretty annoyed. So, girls,if possible, settle everything you have to do during the day!!  BUT for safety, I'll hold by that system. It's a great thing I'm a girl. Wonder how I'll feel if I become a Musyrif? Hehe. Oh yeah, 't just hits me, you have to be "ikhlas" in helping these girls. No payment whatsoever! But for girls, it is best if you pay for the fare, say the taxi. Just to be fair :) Did I mention that they love stalking girls - pak arabs. That's why there's the Musyrif system in the first place -TO FIGHT AWAY CRIMES, TO PROTECT SO THAT JUSTICE PREVAILS! *coughcough* sorry, got a little carried away. Speaking of musyrifs, there are all kinds. The quiet, protective, nice ones that lead you to your destination QUIETLY (which is NICE - no need to layan them la!), the "jalan cepat" and doesn't care what happens to you, (doesn't turn back to check on us) ones (so bad la to have him, them) and etc. Basically, if you get the 2nd type, just be patient and try to keep up. If you can't, pandai2 tell them!

Oh, and another thing. It's not like I'm totally AGAINST early marriage (18++ yo) ok, maybe. A lot of my seniors are married and are even pregnant and are having babies!! BABIESS!!!! I'm fine with the whole thing, I mean it's your life and they're married so it's their right to have babies!! The thing I can't stand the most is when they ask you "when are you going to get married?" At first, I was like (o___0) "ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS???" And now, I'm still like (o_____0) "AREYOUFREAKINGSERIOUS????!!!!"But hey, that's just me. I'd like to stay single longer thank you.

3) FOOD: You have to look for really hygenic restaurants. If not, you'll just end up having a bad diarrhea. Another thing, makanan dia tak pedaaasss mana. Sos cili pedas...oh so rare!

There's plenty more stuff I'd like to share but eheh can't think of any rite now!! Ciao people! Have a nice day~

Hello. I should write a blog. Yes. I plan on expressing my feelings here and hopefully give you guys a greater view on my life. ENJOY~

So, the biggest news so far is that I'M LIVING IN EGYPT!! To be more precise, Alexandria. So far so good. My house is in front of the ocean which is pretty cool, I should say. A little chilly A LOT, but it's cool. Get it? Chilly, cool. Lame? At least force a smile damn it. No? Pretty please???  ANYWAY, a lot has happened but I can still cope with everything. With my one month plus plus experience living here, I can sum that this place is soo different from Malaysia. I mean, the people, place, culture, language...EVERYTHING! Though I've met some really awful people, but not to forget, I've also made a lot of awesome friends!! This would be my first time, living away from my parents and family. Sad, but still, I feel as though I'm going through an adventure of my own. Riding on the rickety trams, looking at people fighting for god knows why, and going to places I have yet to explore is so fun. No, I'm not trying to be sarcastic. It's true!! 0___0 Actually, I have a LOT to write about but my malasness (laziness) limits me. Eheh. Oh yeah, though this is totally out of the subject, I want to play the ocarina LIKE A BOSS because it looks cool hehe. Have a nice day~ <3

MY OBJECTIVE SO FAR: BECOME A FREAKING AWESOME MED STUDENT AND BECOME AN EVEN FREAKING AWESOME DOCTOR. Amin!!!                            -yang-
